Speaking about the show, Sachin Gokhale, Business Head- Middle East & Africa+ Head of Operations and Strategic Planning, International Business at IndiaCast said, “Checkmate 2.0 is another of our continued endeavors to produce local content relevant to our audiences, give our viewers opportunities to showcase their talent, potential and be recognized in their communities. The show is specifically aimed at our young audiences who are currently at a very important phase of their lives, evolving from being students to responsible professionals. The show aims to find the smartest young talent and offering them a great launch pad to be able to start their career with one of the most reputed employers.”
He further added, “South Asian expats in the UAE have a strong family ethic which emphasizes on education and getting a good job. While there is a plethora of good educational opportunities for these pupils in the UAE at schooling and collegiate levels, we feel that there is a clear gap in terms of the career & training opportunities available in the Corporate sector to fresh graduates. We are very excited to launch the second season of the show given the positive response for the first season from viewers, partners & the press & are confident that the second season will strike the same chord & be even more successful in the South.
This show has two-fold objectives: Firstly, to act as a platform to provide talented young students a structured exposure into the Corporate World through internships with some of the most professional companies in the region. And second, to showcase the quality of available young talent to the business community and the public at large so that there is a mindset shift towards creating more opportunities for them. Through Checkmate, the aim is to bridge these two objectives, in a format that is entertaining and engaging to overall family audiences.”
This season’s tasks have been designed to test entrepreneurship skills, business & general knowledge, marketing & sales skills, procurement skills, market research and crisis management. At every juncture, two weak links from losing teams will be eliminated. The individual who withstands the pressure of the task in the final round and emerges as a true business leader, after showcasing various skills throughout the season will be crowned the winner of CheckMate 2.0.
COLORS TV will air the show every Saturday & Sunday at 9:00pm UAE starting 18th February. COLORS TV Middle East is available on OSN Channel 278, Du 296, Elife Channel 250 and also on Yupp TV.
The show has been conceptualized and produced by The Magic Box FZ LLE.
Zainab Ali – Executive Director, The Magic Box commented, “We at Magic Box are thrilled to be partnering with ColorsTV on another exciting season of “Checkmate: Hunt for the smartest young executive in the Middle East”. This show was the first of our content IP formats to feature on TV last year and we were overwhelmed by the positive response Season 1 generated across the South Asian community, and specifically amongst the youth. Our viewers can expect to see a larger show scale with more seasoned contestants, extra-difficult tasks, tougher judges, heightened competition, nail-biting finishes and an overflow of emotions erupting on screen. We are very confident that this Season will build on last year’s success and we are thankful to the COLORS TV Middle East team for their strong backing, for their unflinching faith in our abilities, and for giving us a free hand to develop and execute the show as per our creative vision.”
