Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal and Bin Omran Trading & Contracting have achieved a significant accomplishment of two million man-hours without loss time injury (LTI).
The milestones was reached on the Interim Upgrade of E-ring road and Najma street project, on which Omran Trading & Contracting is the construction contractor.
To mark this achievement, Ashghal honoured the project contractor for his achievements in the field of safety in the workplace.
The Certificate of Appreciation was presented by Engineer Jalal Salhi, director of Infrastructure Affairs, to Sassine El Nachef, CEO of Bin Omran Trading & Contracting.
The award ceremony was attended by Eng. Mohammed Jamal Al-Khazendar, head of Secondary Projects Section, along with representatives from Ashghal’s Secondary Projects Section, and representatives from Bin Omran Trading & Contracting, QIB reports.
Ashghal requires all contractors to protect workers and commuters against workplace hazards and this achievement reflects Ashghal's and its contractor’s commitment to implement the highest safety standards.
The project includes upgrade works on approximately 3km of Najma street and the expansion of the road from two to three lanes in each direction in addition to converting two roundabouts to a signal-controlled intersection.
The project will also develop and expand 3.3km of the E-Ring road, convert Al Thumama junction to a signal-controlled intersection and upgrade the existing junction between the Airport street and the E-Ring road to enable the road users to make U-turns.
The project includes the addition of car parking, pedestrians and cycles pathways and implementing the landscaping works.
