Price of insulation material in Abu Dhbai rises 3% in May

The price of insulation materials in Abu Dhabi increased by 3% in May. However, the prices of 16 other materials showed a decline.

This was revealed by the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD) in its monthly Building Materials Price (BMP) Statistics report.

The average prices of 16 materials declined compared to their April 2017 (month-on-month; MoM), and May 2016 (year-on-year; YoY) values, last month.


SCAD found that the average price of glass and dyes respectively rose by 7.8% and 5.5% during the month.

Meanwhile, the price of natural stone, false ceiling, and apartment wires, respectively reduced by 5.4%, 3.1%, and 2%, compared to their April values.
Diesel prices increased by 23.1% during the month, while electric cables were 9.4% more expensive in May 2017, compared to corresponding figures for May 2016.

Average prices of iron in May 2017 reduced by 10.6% compared to 2016 figures, while the price of wood rose by 9.5% during the same period, WAM reported.

The price movements of 21 groups from the key building materials are included in SCAD's monthly report.

SCAD's BPM Statistics report for April 2017 found that the average prices of steel, waterproofing products, and wood, decreased by 12.3%, 11%, and 10.1% respectively during the month, compared to corresponding figures for 2016.
