Italy-based chemicals manufacturer Mapei on Wednesday inaugurated its regional facilities in the UAE as part of the company’s growth strategy for 2018.
The newly expanded facility features an additional 5,200m2covered warehouse for larger storage capacity within a 40,000m2plot, adding a new resin line.
The company also celebrated the expansion of its new offices during a press event on Wednesday, which include more than 2,000m2of built-up area, a showroom, and training center. The offices will accommodate more than 126 employees from over 22 nationalities.
Mapei has invested more than $6.5m for the expansion of its production facility and new offices at the Dubai Investments Park.
“MAPEI reinforces and positions itself based on the requirements of the economic developments in the region and enhancing our production and customer service capacity both in terms of increased logistics as well as technical support is part of the company’s wider strategy to turn our facility in Dubai into the regional headquarters effectively serving the Middle East and Eastern Africa,” said Veronica Squinzi, global development director of Mapei.
The move is also in line with increasing demands as the company further expands its operations to new territories in the region.
Stefano Iannacone, regional director of Mapei, said: “We are optimistic with the increased demands in the construction market.
“Our new expanded facility in Dubai will help in supporting and serving the demand from projects and to fulfill the visionary requirements.”
Over the past 10 years, the company has been involved in several major projects in the UAE, and is now providing supplies for the Dubai Metro expansion and the Dubai Expo 2020 site.
Iannacone said: “We have been worked on most of the megaprojects in Dubai, and are now working on the expansion of the Atlantis hotel on The Palm."
Mapei has 75 manufacturing plants contributing to 25,000 tons of products shipped daily from 54 countries across five continents.
