Sharjah Public Works Department (SPWD) has partnered with Al Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Department to complete $4.3m (AED16m) worth of maintenance for 70 mosques in the emirate.

The project also undertakes construction and maintenance projects for a series of mosques, according to Mohamed bin Yarouf, director of Branches Department in SPWD.

Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, chairman of SPWD, said that these projects are part of the initiatives of HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at preserving the general view of the Emirate, providing the atmosphere of faith for the worshippers to coincide with the Holy Month of Ramadan and within the development plan of the Department.
