Lufthansa is upgrading its Business and Premium Economy Class offerings on Middle East routes, amidst strong passenger growth in the region.
The Lufthansa Group, which comprises Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines, saw a five percent growth in 2013 compared to the previous year.
According to Lufthansa Airlines, the largest growth has been generated in the premium segment (First and Business Class). In both compartments, Lufthansa is undergoing a large retrofit programmes, with more than 7,000 Business Class seats being installed on over 100 long-haul aircraft. The Business Class upgrades are expected to conclude by summer 2015. The retrofit on First Class has been nearly concluded.
