Air Lease Corporation sign deal with Boeing for 78 jets

On the second day of the 2018 Farnborough International Airshow (FIA), Boeing and Air Lease Corporation (ALC) penned an agreement for the order and commitment of up to 78 Boeing aircraft.

As per the $9.6 deal, a toal of 75 Max 8s and three 787-9 Dreamliners have been sought. This addition of the new aircraft will expand ALC’s current portfolio of 737 MAX aircraft to 213 jets.

Commenting on the deal, Steven Udvar-Hazy, executive chairman of Air Lease Corporation, said: “Demand for reliable, fuel-efficient airplanes is at an all-time high. The capabilities of these new airplanes continue to meet the high expectations of our growing airline customer base.”

Breaking down the deal further, it is reported that three 787-9s and the first 20 737 MAX aircraft of the order are firm purchases. The following 55 737 MAX aeroplanes are commitments until both parties conclude them into firm orders.

Since 2010, ALC has ordered and committed to 361 Boeing aircraft. This comprises of 288 737s, 21 777s and 52 787 Dreamliners.
