Dubai-based carrier flydubai has revealed that it will now operate twice a week flights to Sochi in Russia. Beginning from the 7 June 2019, the addition of Sochi is the latest addition to flydubai’s Russian network, which it has been active in since 2010.
A popular tourist hub located on the Black Sea, Sochi is favoured with vacationers for its beaches, forests and the Caucasus Mountains. The destination was also the host for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Commenting on the occasion, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said: “Russia is an important market for flydubai and we are pleased to announce the new direct flights to Sochi which will support the growing flow of travel, trade and tourism between the two countries. We remain committed to opening up previously underserved markets and to providing more travel options to fly to Dubai and beyond through one of the world’s busiest travel hubs.”
As part of the announcement, flydubai’s leadership also confirmed that Emirates will codeshare on this route, part of the ongoing partnership between the two airlines that were inked backed in 2017.
At the start of 2019, UAE and the Russian Federation inked an agreement for a visa-free regime between the two countries. Respective passport holders can take advantage of the agreement when travelling between the two countries with a 90 days visa accessible on arrival.

flydubai will operate flights FZ985/986 between Dubai International Terminal 2 (DXB) and Sochi International Airport on Mondays and Fridays.
