It comes despite British Airways announcing on Saturday that it had suspended all flights to Cairo for seven days as a precautionary measure following a security review.German carrier Lufthansa also said it was suspending flights to Cairo from Munich and Frankfurt just for Saturday, without giving a reason – normal service was due to return on Sunday.
Emirates currently operates three flights daily to Cairo. A spokesperson told Arabian Business: “Our flights to and from Cairo are currently operating as scheduled. We are closely assessing the situation and are in contact with the relevant aviation authorities with regards to our flight operations to Egypt. As always, the safety and security of our passengers, crew and aircraft is our number one priority and will not be compromised.”Etihad, meanwhile, which operates four flights a day to Cairo, and a further two codeshare with Egypt Air, said: “Etihad Airways is monitoring the security situation in Cairo.
“The safety of our guests and staff is paramount, and we will make any decisions based on an informed assessment of local conditions.”
