For the second time in less than 12 months, SriLankan Airlines was recognised as the World’s Most Punctual Airline, when it reported in May 2019 that 90.75% of its flights throughout its route network were ‘on-time’.
The last time the airline secured the accolade was back in September 2018, when it secured a punctuality rating of 91.37%.
Vipula Gunatilleka, group CEO of SriLankan, said: “Heartiest congratulations to our companywide team, guided by our Punctuality Improvement Committee, that toils day in and day out to delight our customers by having our flights arrive and depart on time, every time.”
The feat was made more impressive by the fact that following the Easter Sunday attacks in Colombo, security efforts have been stepped up across all major public transport hubs, which includes Bandaranaike International Airport.
SriLankan has consistently been one of the world’s most punctual airlines over the last 12 months, with 86% of flights departing on time and 85% arriving on time from June 2018 through May 2019 on average.
SriLankan Airlines' performance was monitored on Flightstats.com, a flight data analysis company.
