A technical issue forced Flydubai flight FZ710 to make an emergency landing on Thursday.

The aircraft was flying from Baku to Dubai when it encountered the issue and made an unscheduled landing at Shiraz Shahid Dastgheib International Airport (SYZ) in Iran.

A spokesperson for the airline said on social media that passengers were provided with refreshments at Shiraz Airport and continued their journey to Dubai at 19:45 (local time) on another aircraft.

The spokesperson said: “We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our passengers' travel plans. This followed standard procedure as the safety of our passengers remains our first priority.”

Stranded passengers were picked up by an empty plane and the technical issue was fixed. Flight FZ710 left Iran on the same day to return to Dubai.
