In less than two weeks of opening in the Mena region, Avengers Endgame has smashed box office records to earn the accolade of the highest grossing film of all time.
The Marvel Studios film global box office dominance is all but likely as it now closes in on current record holder Avatar. Avatar has maintained the top spot since 2009 as it earned $2.78 million. Avengers: Endgame has earned $2.19 million in under a month beating Titanic. It’s worth noting that six of the top ten films all belong to Marvel properties, four of them Avengers films. According to local studio figures, Disney has stated that Endgame earned AED 40.6 million in the UAE box office alone and it also beat the record for the highest gross opening weekend in the Middle East.
The 22 film saga from Marvel that was conceptualized in phases saw Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Josh Brolin deliver an end to a journey where the superheroes fight the mad titan Thanos to bring back half of all living beings in the universe that disappeared by the hands of Thanos after he snapped a finger with the Infinity Gauntlet.
Marvel Studios does have one more film to wrap up phase 3, the recently released trailer for Spiderman: Far From Home looks likely to play out as the epilogue for Avengers Endgame.
