RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) recently organised a joint workshop with Oman’s Information Technology Authority (ITA).
The workshop taught Omani government staff how to work with Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and implement it on their respective networks.
Representatives from Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) were also present at the workshop.
The programme was held as part of the RIPE NCC’s capacity-building efforts and as part of ITA’s initiative to develop a roadmap for IPv6 deployment in Oman.
“The workshop allowed both technical and non-technical attendees to share ideas on IPv6-related issues. The workshop was not purely technical, and everybody felt comfortable with the interactive session, which encouraged members of the audience to ask questions. The feedback we received showed that attendees were keen for more information and willing to meet RIPE NCC again to learn more about IPv6,” said Paul Rendek, director of external relations, RIPE NCC.
