A leading cybersecurity expert says media claims that Huawei's HongMeng OS could be "60%" faster than Android and iOS are inaccurate.

Writing for Forbes, Zak Doffman (founder and CEO of Digital Barriers) says media claims that the HongMeng could be 60% faster are erroneous. He says Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei only has said the HongMeng "likely" will be faster - and that it is not "designed for phones as everyone thinks" and not developed to "replace Google."

Huawei has had a major falling-out this year with Western nations, particularly the United States, amid fears of alleged links to the Chinese government and military.
