Huawei is scaling back smartphone production and getting out of the undersea cable business, according to reports.

Huawei is reportedly selling off its undersea cable operations. It is also reportedly cutting back on production orders for new phones from supplier Foxconn.

The announcements come as Huawei is facing increasing scrutiny in Western nations, particularly the United States, but continues to ink major deals in other nations, such as developing Russia's first 5G network with MTS.
