The certificate was given to Smart Dubai’s Strategic Planning Advisor Dr Okan Geray in Valencia, Spain during the 9th Green Standards Week events, by the city’s Mayor and Dr. Chaesub Lee, Director of the ITU’s Telecommunication Standardisation Bureau.
Dubai wins award for being world’s first city to implement U4SSC’s KPIs for Smart Sustainable Cities

Dubai has been announced as the first city in the world to successfully implement the U4SSC KPIs for Smart Sustainable Cities, receiving an official certification recognising it as such from the United Nations’ U4SCC (United for Smart Sustainable Cities) initiative, coordinated by ITU, UNECE and UN-Habitat, and supported by 16 UN agencies to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 11: “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”. It seeks to recognise cities who have made the most progress in implementing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11.
