Surrounding the ongoing development and roll-out of 5G, the next generation, high-speed telecommunications network, it is set to dominate the upcoming GITEX Technology Week. Some of the biggest names in 5G including Huawei, Ericsson and Etisalat attended a press conference earlier this week to discuss their plans for the show.
Huawei has been making the headlines of late amidst its fight with the USA government over security concerns related to its 5G equipment. While it is expected to be at the conference to showcase its artificial intelligence (AI) technology, devices and cloud technologies, it declined to comment whether it would address concerns about security during GITEX Technology Week.
Other technologies that will be showcased during GITEX Technology Week, which runs between October 6-10 will include FinTech (financial technology), the future of mobility and autonomous vehicles. Munich based Siemens will also be making its debut this year at the event, showcasing intelligent infrastructure.
The event will run in parallel with GITEX Future Stars, a conference that focuses on start-ups. In combination, both the shows will feature 250 industry insiders and experts on stage to discuss major trends. Over 4,500 companies are expected to attend this year’s shows, with over 100,000 visitors from 140 countries.
