Saudi telco, STC, has revealed a $26.7 million (100 million riyal) investment package to help double operational efficiency at health care centres across the Kingdom, according to a company release.

The scheme could benefit as many as 5 million Saudi citizens and residents across the country.

“As part of its partnership with the Ministry of Health aimed at increasing prevention from the coronavirus and limiting its spread, STC has doubled the operational efficiency and awareness outreach of 22 of its healthcare centres, established over the previous years across Saudi Arabia. These efforts also form part of the company’s commitment to long lasting social initiatives as the centres offer healthcare support and participate in awareness campaigns, constituting an initiative valued at SAR 100 million,” an STC spokesperson said in a statement to the press.

The healthcare centres have provided frontline health care to 5 million people in the Kingdom since their launch. The investment will help the healthcare centres to provide digital services to their patients, which has become increasingly urgent due to the prevalence of the current Covid 19 pandemic.

“Having been constructed and equipped at STC’s cost, the 22 healthcare centres have provided services to over 5 million beneficiaries and patients since the launch of their operations. Today, STC is aiming to increase the efficiency of the centres’ infrastructure and to enable digital services as part of the beneficiary journey,” the STC spokesperson added.

STC continues to work with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health to raise awareness on how to prevent the spread of Coronavirus as part of a joint campaign launched across digital and traditional media outlets. As part of this collaboration, over 1.7 billion messages have been sent over the past six weeks in 10 languages. STC’s international affiliates have launched similar campaigns in Kuwait and Bahrain.
