The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry honoured 13 major organisations for their efforts to lead by example in corporate social responsibility and sustainability during a recognition ceremony held at its premises.

The Dubai Chamber CSR Label was presented for the first time to InfoFort, MAB Facilities, NAFFCO, SamTech, Veolia Water, ZAFCO and Zulekha Hospitals, while Palm Utilities, NBAD, Global Village and UAE Exchange got it for the second time and The Nail Spa and QBG received it for the third time.

In his welcome address during the presentation ceremony, H.E. Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, chairman, Dubai Chamber, congratulated the honourees for their dedication to integrate CSR into their governance and strategy while helping to promote best business practices across Dubai’s business community.

“In recent years we have seen a shift towards better understanding about the benefits of CSR, especially during our bid to Expo 2020 with its commitment to sustainability as the Dubai Chamber CSR Label inspired the business community to quickly align with the sustainable objectives of the World Expo,” said Al Ghurair.

“It’s very encouraging to see the rising number of honourees who are equally CSR pioneers for the region as it’s heartening to note that more companies are coming back for the second and third time to receive their due recognition for helping promote best business practices,” added Al Ghurair.

On their part, the honourees lauded the role of Dubai Chamber in allowing them a framework to define and improve their corporate social responsibility performance as well as the opportunity to promote their activities, and to enhance their reputation as leaders in achieving sustainability.

The CSR Label is open to all organisations, private or public, regardless of their size, sector or operations and can make a major difference to a company’s reputation, efficiency and productivity and its success depends on how the CSR objectives are set and communicated to all of their stakeholders.
