Labour living standards are coming under scrutiny in Qatar.
Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Environment is urging all companies to move workers living in unsatisfactory labour camps located in farms, by the end of June, The Peninsula reported
The Ministry will force companies to relocate workers who are living in sub-standard accommodation, it has cautioned.
The options for companies are to either meet the standards or find a new housing for the workers in Labour City, or to rent accommodation through Waseef and Barwa companies before the end of June, the Ministry said in a statement on Thursday, 2 February.
This warning comes in light of farms violating the provision of law No 15/2010, which regulates labour accommodation in family residential areas and the provision of law No 10/1987 on public and private properties and the incorrectly assigned use of farms
