Dubai Municipality wins seven awards for waste management

The Waste Management Department of Dubai Municipality recently won seven international awards in the field of sustainable waste management.

Among different award ceremonies, the municipality won honours from the American Creative Association for Ideas and the Arab Network for Corporate Social Responsibility.

Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality congratulated the Waste Management Department for its outstanding efforts and determination to move forward in the process of excellence at the international and regional levels in all areas of work.

“Our win reflects the competitiveness of Dubai Municipality in all local, regional and international forums," said Eng. Abdul Majeed Saifai, Director of Waste Management Department.

“This win demonstrates the commitment of the Waste Management Department to adopting the best international standards, specifications and global practices in all the services it provides in order to achieve the happiness and satisfaction of employees and customers with the Department,” he added.

The award winning projects included the Smart Sustainability Oasis.

“We also won the Creative Innovation Award in the Best Sustainability Innovation category, in addition to winning the Golden Award and first place for the general green idea of the Integrated System for Treatment of Medical Waste in Dubai," he said.

“Other awards include the Outstanding Leader Award for 2017 and the Best Participant Award from the American Ideas Organisation after passing all the tests approved and prescribed by the organization,” said Saifai.

Saifai ranks the ‘best ideas for 2017’ award by the American Ideas Organisation as the most important which was across all categories and levels. “Thanks to this win, the Department has directly qualified to compete for the Global Ideas Award for 2018,” he said.
