Expo 2020 Dubai has selected Emaar Hospitality Group (EHG) as its official hotel and hospitality partner, a significant achievement for the Emaar Properties subsidiary.
Under the deal announced on 8 August, EHG will provide “provide authentic experiences with a strong local flavour at various locations across the Expo 2020 site, including VIP clubs and lounges, as well as in its hotels and restaurants in Dubai”.
As the official hotel and hospitality partner, it will also be responsible for providing "exceptional service to Expo 2020’s special ticket holders", according to a statement by the expo's organisers.
EHG will also operate a number of other experiences across the expo site, showcasing also the latest “trends and innovations in the hospitality industry”.
Speaking on the move, EHG's chief executive officer, Olivier Harnisch, said: “In our role, we focus on providing an exceptional level of hospitality that will encourage visitors from across the world to return and experience everything that Dubai and the UAE have to offer.
“Expo 2020 will further strengthen Dubai’s position as one of the world’s most open and technologically advanced cities. We are delighted to be part of this journey.”
Its work with Expo 2020 Dubai will add to EHG's existing portfolio of the assets and brands, which already includes Address Hotels + Resorts, Vida Hotels and Resorts, and Rove Hotels.
The announcement comes as tourism numbers continue to rise in Dubai.
Last year, the emirate welcomed 15.79 million visitors, an increase of 6.2% compared to the previous year. The Expo 2020 Dubai team expects to welcome 25 million visitors during the six-month event that will run between 20 October, 2020 and 10 April, 2021.
