Signify, formerly Philips Lighting, received a certificate of appreciation for equipping Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University’s (HBMSU) with connected lighting technology
Samir Al Aref, general manager for the Middle East region (excluding KSA) at Signify received the certificate from HE Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security in Dubai and Chairman of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University’s (HBMSU) Board of Governors (BOG) during the official inauguration of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University’s (HBMSU).
HBMSU is Dubai’s most innovative university equipped with connected lighting technology utilising the Signify's recently launched IOT platform, Interact Office.
The technology enables faculty staff to control and personalise light settings using a smartphone app, while students can be guided to rooms using lighting-based indoor positioning technology.
The opening ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) and Vice President of the Board of Governors, HBMSU, along other members of Board of Governors and distinguished personalities and partners.
HBMSU students receive a combination of web-based and classroom learning that places it at the forefront of modern university education and is in line with the Emirates’ objective towards transforming into a smart city of the future.
