Ras Al Khaimah-based Al Ali Construction and Development has won a $147.8m (AED543m) contract to build the 418-key Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island hotel from Rak AMI Hotel.
The project is located within the 270ha Al Marjan Island, and will be built with a focus on water and energy efficiency during operations. Al Marjan Island already features 1,600 five-star keys across Rixos-, Hilton-, and Accor-branded properties.
The Accor Hotels-branded Mövenpick hotel is Rak AMI Hotel’s first project, and a statement by the developer revealed that construction is scheduled to complete in Q1 2021.
The hotel project comprises 95 rooms, 95 suites and family rooms, and 28 chalets.
Commenting on the construction contract, Abdulla Al Abdouli, chairman of Rak AMI Hotel, said: “Awarding the construction contract to Al Ali Construction and Development is another landmark in the evolution of [our company].”
The contractor has a solid track record of hospitality projects in Ras Al Khaimah, and has previously built Phase 2 of Double Tree by Hilton Resort and Spa in Al Marjan Island, which had a development value of $1.8bn (AED6.6bn).
