Dubai-based real estate developer Meraas has signed an agreement with Singapore’s Samanea Group to develop a mall close to Dubai International City (pictured), planned for launch by 2021.

According to a report by Construction Week’s sister title Arabian Business, the 5.2ha retail outlet will comprise 1,800 parking spaces, and feature home appliances and furniture from businesses based in China that are seeking to grow in the GCC.

Both the companies signed the deal amid the inaugural Big C Forum that was attended by 600 Chinese investors and entrepreneurs.

In 2018, bilateral trade between Dubai and China reached $37.9bn, making the Asian country the emirate’s largest trade partner for the fifth consecutive year.

Last week, Meraas confirmed that Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest observation wheel at 250m, would be ready in time for Expo 2020 Dubai
