Director of Sarooj Construction Company (SCC), Simon Karam, told Construction Week that the Omani contracting company had purchased a cloud-based software to track of all its health and safety-related statistics, adding that the platform was to be commissioned in Q2 2019.
He added that through the platform, SCC would also be able to track all health and safety training programmes and certificates.
He added: “This will greatly reduce reliance on paper copies, increase the speed of information sharing, and make all required data accessible immediately to the concerned people in the company."
Karam was speaking to Construction Week ahead of his inclusion in the 2019 Power 100 list, Construction Week's annual ranking of the Middle East's most influential industry leaders.
In 2018, SCC implemented Phase 2 of the SAP Business One (B1) programme, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) programme.
Karam told Construction Week that the modules introduced within this phase were mainly focused on improved productivity and tracking, in addition to accurate cost allocation.
SCC has been busy over the last 12 months.
Between June 2018 and May 2019, the Omani contractor completed enabling works for Majid Al Futtaim’s Mall of Oman, along with the construction and revamp of roads, including the construction of four bridges and one underpass around the Muscat Expressway.
During the period, SCC also built more than 50 well pads and 30km of access roads, as well as implemented civil works for a raw water treatment plant, at BP Khazzan Block 61 First Gas.
According to Karam, Oman and UAE are among SCC's most important markets in the Middle East for the next 12 months, with the company focused on projects in the oil and gas, infrastructure, and marine works sectors.
The 2019 Construction Week Power 100 list will be revealed in the 29 June, 2019 issue of the magazine.
