Grako’s efforts earned it the Health and Safety Initiative of the Year award.
To choose the deserving winner, the judges considered ongoing development and implementation of standards that improve the overall health of their employees, also considering the company that
delivered zero loss of man hours, and gave utmost importance to the overall wellbeing of its employees.
Founder and chief executive officer of Grako, Alain El Tawil received the award from chief executive officer of Adeed Group, Eng. Ansari.
El Tawil said: “We partnered with Dubai Airports to educated various service providers, including contractors, cleaning and MEP companies, to understand more about what it takes to work with ropes while doing the job. This was a very successful training schedule in a period of two months.
El Tawil added that, Grako — in which UAE’s National Catering Company (NCC) took a 51% stake — educated and revisited all training programs that the company had provided to its staff on regular basis.
“The jobs we do are one of the riskiest jobs, where our employees suspended from ropes cleaning buildings tall and short in the UAE, hence we cannot take things easily,” stressed El Tawil.
“We have to really focus and make sure our employees are working in proper conditions and ensure that no incidents occur,” affirmed El Tawil.
El Tawil said that the award is a recognition of their achievements and motivates them to step up the initiatives they undertake for health and safety.
