Facilities management (FM) and energy services provider Cofely Besix Facility Management (CBFM) has appointed Bart Holsters, who has previously worked on Dubai's Burj Khalifa, as its new general manager for the UAE.
According to CBFM, Holsters will lead a team of 1,600 employees in his new role and be responsible for overseeing day-to-day business operations, and develop long-term plans for the company's growth.
Holsters has more than 15 years' experience in the FM and construction industries across Europe and the Middle East, and worked for Cofely Services in Belgium between 2004 and 2009, before moving to the Middle East.
He joined CBFM in 2009 and was Burj Khalifa’s facility and operations manager for three years, before moving to another role outside of the UAE. Holsters was named UAE operations manager for CBFM in 2014, before being promoted to head of its energy services, Esco, and renewables business in 2016.
Speaking on his new position, Holsters said: “The current FM service delivery model is expected to go through rapid transformation due to the availability of emerging technologies and data science.
“I have always had a passion for systems and technology, and I am determined to further digitise the way we operate today by driving efficiencies through data science.”
Miles Webb, CBFM's chief operating officer, described Holsters as “a system-level thinker with a great passion for sustainability and operational efficiency”.
Webb added: “[Holsters] has been actively involved in defining and implementing of company strategy as well as with the development and implementation of business standards, processes, and platforms.”
Holsters holds an MBA in energy and sustainability from the University of Cumbria in the UK, and a master's degree in electromechanics from Erasmus Hogeschool in Brussels.
