Real estate developer Miral, the company behind the popular Yas Island leisure hub and the under-construction Yas Bay Arena in Abu Dhabi, said it had joined Plug and Play ADGM's travel and hospitality technology accelerator in the Mena region as founding partner.

In the role, Miral will have the opportunity to connect with start-ups through Plug and Play's network and support regional start-ups by sharing its experience of the Abu Dhabi leisure and entertainment market.

Founded in 2016, the Silicon Valley-headquartered Plug and Play is focused on the discovery, scaling, and support of technology that further the future of travel.

Commenting on the agreement, Miral's chief executive officer, Mohammed Al Zaabi, said: "Our role as partner of Plug and Play ADGM’s tech accelerator supports our strategy to approach every opportunity with an innovation-led mindset and encourage others to pursue their own innovations.

“By championing inventive thinking among travel and tourism startups, we can help boost Abu Dhabi’s appeal as an investment prospect.”

Plug and Play's Middle East managing partner, Omeed Mehrinfar, added: “Our main goal is to source disruptive talent from across the world to support Abu Dhabi’s vision in becoming a regional hub for entrepreneurship and innovation.”
