Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that it had become the first government entity in the world to obtain an ISO 19650 certificate in building information modelling (BIM) under the BIM Asset Lifecycle ISO 19650 Framework.
According to Dubai Media Office, UK-headquartered specialist assessment firm British Standards Institute (BSI Group) visited RTA and met with its task team, which briefed BSI on the detailed processes in place for BIM applications.
BSI carried out an assessment of BIM standards implemented by RTA over five consecutive days.
Commenting on the certification, director of asset management at RTA, Saeed Al Ramsi, said: “Being the first government entity in the world to obtain this prestigious global certificate is credited to the copious efforts of RTA towards adopting BIM practices.
"It is also indicative of RTA’s commitment to ensuring the optimal utilisation of resources, adopting innovative techniques for elongating asset lifespan, and cutting capital overheads.”
