During a field tour led by a team of government officials to the Jleeb Al-Shoyoukh city, which is a part of the Farwaniya governorate, director general of the Kuwait Municipality, Ahmad Al-Manfouhi allocated $72.5m (KWD22n) to revamp the infrastructure of the city.
According to Kuwait’s state-held news agency, Kuna, the team represented a special commission that has been appointed to examine the city’s existing conditions, and carry out necessary measures to improve the same.
The special commission comprised members from the municipality, Ministry of Electricity and Water, Ministry of Public Works, Interior Ministry, Public Authority for Manpower, and Environment Public Authority.
The Kuna report cited Al-Manfouhi who said that the conditions in Jleeb Al-Shoyoukh were “unacceptable”, adding that unlicensed warehouses that stored food products would be shut down, and the products would be confiscated.
He added that bachelor towns will also be built within the city for expatriate labourers.
