The six-month long Expo 2020 Dubai, which will run from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, will reportedly include a “unique water feature”, construction on which is currently underway at the 4.38km2 site.
Speaking to Construction Week’s sister-title Arabian Business, the chief development officer at Expo 2020 Dubai, Ahmed Al Khatib said that the feature will be unveiled in mid-2020. Al Khatib did not reveal further details on the feature.
Al Khatib added: “So, as of today… we completed the infrastructure completely, 100%… All the roads, all the utilities, the drainage, telecommunication, water, electricity, all completed… We've finished all the roads, except for the final layer - we will keep it late - and the road markings, so it stays fresh.
“The landscaping of the entire site is in progress,” Al Khatib said, adding that the site construction work had been completed “below budget”.
Many of the participating countries have began construction work on their pavilions, including Netherlands, New Zealand, France, Oman, Sweden, Germay, as well as Spain.
