Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has stepped up its efforts to mitigate the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

As part of its preventive measures, ITC has carried out sterilisation operations for 6,147 taxis in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, in addition to daily comprehensive sterilisation of taxis after each trip, state run Abu Dhabi Media Office reported.

The authority has installed plastic insulation separators in Abu Dhabi's taxis, to separate the driver from the passengers. Each taxi is allowed a maximum limit of two passengers.

Taxis have also been equipped with debit and credit card machines as part of the authority's efforts to implement electronic payment and to reduce the exchange of cash. The measures have been introduced to ensure health and safety of the passengers and drivers.
