Bahrain’s Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs, and Urban Planning, Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf has called for concerned entities within the municipalities to put a halt on the collection of rents from these tenants for a period of three months starting April 2020.

The Bahrain News Agency reported that the initiative came under the directives of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, to support investors and traders under the current situation.

The initiative would cover all users of municipal property in supermarkets, stand owners, and tenants of small shops in malls and municipal shops.

The financial and economic decisions and measures help the government maintain sustainable growth and enable the private sector in the kingdom to overcome the effects of this crisis.

The Coordination Committee, chaired by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, launched an economic package to provide necessary liquidity to the private sector to deal with the effects of the current conditions to maintain sustainable growth.
