CW to host Autodesk Construction Tech Workshop
Published: 1 February 2020 - 2 a.m.
Construction Week in collaboration with Autodesk and Redington will host the Autodesk Construction Technology Workshop on the 10 February, 2020, at the Rove Downtown hotel in Dubai.

The conference and workshop intends to shed light on the latest radical approaches and applications of building information modelling (BIM), artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), augmented- and virtual-reality (AR and VR), as well as the importance of future collaboration models.

The event – which will bring together 60-80 industry leaders including design managers, contractors, project managers, and BIM experts – will also serve as a networking opportunity for key industry stakeholders.

Delegates will receive in-depth insights on faster project delivery, effective asset lifecycle management, and how to gain an advantage in the highly competitive construction market.

Presentations at the event will touch upon the industrialisation of construction, including the increasing labour productivity, substituting labour intensive processes with machines, fast-tracking the rate of construction, commissioning new projects more quickly, reducing costs, lean construction, incorporating augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), and improving overall quality.

The Autodesk Construction Technology Workshop will also address convergence between manufacturing and construction; utilising manufacturing’s expertise in mass production; and construction’s ability to design and build a highly customised complex product.

The agenda for the event is as follows:

9.00am – 9.30am

Keynote from Construction Week’s editor Ashley Williams on digital construction

Ashley Williams will share insights on the changing marketplace of the construction sector and how technology innovations are fulfilling the UAE’s Vision 2021 for Dubai to become the smartest city in the world.

9. 30am – 10.00am

Keynote on Future Project Collaboration Models

With rapid movements for digitisation, there is always the risk that stakeholders are left out of the entire process of a project and arguments have been made that they should be included from the design stage to improve productivity, safety, and compliance.

There is a need for construction stakeholders to collaborate for the integration of individual products and services. Talking points in this presentation will include how technology solutions will help stakeholders to collaborate better and deliver projects more efficiently.

10.00am – 10.45am

Transitioning from 2D to 3D

Most contractors today are still working in 2D environments to develop shop drawings. Today, technology is disrupting the way we design, build, and operate buildings.

This session will discuss how we can simplify the coordination of various trade drawings during pre-construction; combine design and construction data; and speed up review and verification workflows to transform existing processes and minimise mistakes across construction sites.

10.45am – 11.30am

Make the move to BIM - Win More Work, Increase Profits, and Minimise Risk

This presentation from a representative of Autodesk will discuss how connected BIM workflows from design all the way to construction documentation is important for automation, as-built visualization and monitoring the construction progress stage-by-stage, thereby, maximising your return on investment.

Following the presentations, guests will take a break for refreshments and are free to network with attendants and speakers.
