Sheikh Mohammed reviews projects at World Future Energy Summit

As part of his visit to the World Future Energy Summit that is being held on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai reviewed various projects including ones in the clean energy sector.

During his visit to the summit, Sheikh Mohammed viewed a large-scale green hydrogen project, which produces electricity using hydrogen. The project will begin trial operations in Q1 2020. Following completion of the pilot phase production capacity of the project is expected to reach 300MWh.

Sheikh Mohammed also paid a visit to the Masdar pavilion, where he was briefed on several clean energy projects. He was accompanied by deputy prime minister and minister of interior, HH Lt Gen. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to the UAE's state-held news agency, Wam.

At the Expo 2020 Dubai pavilion the Dubai Ruler was briefed about how the World Expo role in spreading awareness on waste recycling and the use of renewable energy.

The Dubai Ruler was also reviewed the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park project, which is being built with an investment of $13.6bn (AED50bn). MBR Solar Park, which is the largest single-site solar park in the world, will have a capacity of 5GW by 2030.

Upon completion, MBR Solar Park will reduce approximately 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually and provide thousands of jobs in clean energy and the green economy.

The Dubai Ruler also the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment’s pavilion that displayed the future of sustainability in sectors such as agriculture, space, energy, and transport through the Climate Innovation Exchange (CLIX) forum.

Sheikh Mohammed said: "The ideas of Mohamed bin Zayed and his aspirations are a turning point for our beloved countries, especially in terms of regional and international humanitarian and sustainable development."
