The Mohammed Bin Rashid (MBR) Library project was unveiled by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in February 2016, at the launch of the Year of Reading.
Construction works commenced in September 2016, with the main contract awarded to ASGC.
The MBR Library boasts a total built-up area of 54,061 square metres and comprises seven storeys, a basement, and a ground floor.
The basement will consist of 90 parking spaces, as well as offices and exhibition areas.
The ground floor will feature an auditorium with 544 seats and a caf, in addition to a childrens library, an information centre, and an Arabic library, among other facilities.
The project is being constructed to achieve Platinum ratings under LEED and Al Safat.
The MBR Library will also have family, international, media, and young adult libraries.
Located on Dubai Creek, the project is expected to complete in 2018.
