While the pace of construction continues unabated in the Middle East, there are increasingly more opportunities for fit-out contractors in the refurbishment and renovation space.

More refurbishment jobs in hospitality may certainly be on the cards, with clients looking for ways to revitalise tired properties and entice new guests, Depa Group, Commercial Interior Design’s Fit-Out Firm of the Year for 2018, revealed.

“More refurbishment projects are in demand and clients are looking for both turnkey contractors with MEP capabilities and contractors that have experience in minimising business distribution,” the fit-out contractor behind a major transport project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, said.

“Depa has successfully refurbished many hotels and is an expert in minimising business disruption and phasing. We continue to develop our expertise in managing MEP services under our scope by attracting new talent and building relationships with key MEP contractors,” it added.

“Clients are turning to contractors to help achieve project budget constraints through value engineering and construction solutions.”

Interior design and fit-out firm Depa Group is working on three hotel projects in the Dubai, as well as what it has described as an “iconic project” in the UAE with UK architect Fosters + Partners. Its portfolio of completed hospitality products includes the Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah and W Hotel Palm, both Dubai.

It is also working on three projects for Expo 2020 Dubai.
