Alec Fitout is seriously exploring a range of interior design and fit-out opportunities for Expo 2020 Dubai, with less than 18 months to go until the world fair begins.

The sister company of UAE construction giant Alec, which is building the expo’s Mobility Pavilion, told Commercial Interior Design it was eyeing up confidentail fit-out projects for the prestigious megaproject.

“Alec Fitout is reviewing a variety of opportunities at Expo 2020 Dubai and we see considerable opportunities there for fit-out in the coming 12 months,” Tom Gilmartin, business development manager, said in an email statement.

Alec Fitout's parent company, Alec, is building Expo 2020 Dubai's Mobililty Pavilion.

Alec Fitout’s admission comes with the race to win interior design projects for what is arguably one of the most important ongoing projects in the UAE intensifies.

Earlier this month, Commercial Interior Design revealed that Dubai-based interior design and luxury furniture importer Kart Group, led by Mustafa Khamash, was already in a design competition to work on the VIP section of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Meanwhile, Depa Group, Commercial Interior Design’s Fit-Out Firm of the Year for 2018, is already working on three projects at Expo 2020 Dubai.

While the company has not revealed details of the work it is carrying out, one of the projects is for a pavilion designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava – the man behind the UAE Pavilion.
