Nominations have opened for the third Italian Way Product Design Award and there is a prize of $5,000 (AED18,000) for the winner.

The homegrown product designer competition challenges locally-based designers to create an original piece of furniture taking cues from Italian design.

Entrants will need to design something for a rooftop hospitality setting.

The winner will receive money for the first time, and the chance to collaborate with composite materials company Wood-Skin, which is based in Milan, Italy.

The competition is open to designers who live in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Lebanon.

Paul Bishop from Bishop Design, who won Interior Design of the Year: F&B at the CID Awards 2019, is among the judges who will select a winner for the third Italian Way Product Designer Award.

A winner will be announced at an invitation-only awards party at Molecule in Dubai Design District on 12 November.

More details on how to enter the competition can be found here.
