Fairmont the Palm Dubai, UAE
Developer IFA Hotels & Resorts (IFA HR) opened the Fairmont The Palm Hotel on The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai last month. The AED 1.2 billion (US $330 million) five-star resort comprises 381 rooms, 460-metres of beachfront, 2200 m² of meeting and conference facilities, a 1600m² spa and seven F&B outlets. It forms part of a larger $616million development that will include 562 luxury apartments. Guestrooms are equipped with the latest in entertainment and communication systems including high speed internet access and 40-inch interactive LED TVs.
Park Hyatt Busan, South Korea
Park Hyatt Busan has opened in South Korea’s second-largest city. Overlooking the Busan Marina and surrounding beaches, the luxury hotel is located in a multi-purpose also features residential towers, retail and office space. There are 269 rooms, including 69 suites. The hotel starts on the 30th floor of the tower where the lobby bar the Lounge affords views of the ocean and city. The 31st floor plays host to casual dining restaurant, The Living Room and even higher on the 32nd, is the more formal venue the Dining Room.
The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal.
The AED 1.5 billion property owned by Abu Dhabi National Hotels, opened its doors in March 2013. The hotel, which was scheduled to open in October 2012, features a total of 1- F&B outlets, including three signature restaurants by Super Potato. Other facilities at the Venetian style property include a 1500 square metre ballroom with capacity for 1000 guests, a 57-metre long swimming pool and a private beach. There are 447 rooms in the main hotel plus 85 private one- and two-bedroom villas.
Crowne Plaza Duqm, Oman
InterContinental Hotels Group has opened Crowne Plaza Duqm, its fourth hotel in Oman near the port and dry docks at Duqm. The beachfront hotel features 213 rooms including 21 suites, all offering direct sea views. Guests can enjoy the hotel’s outdoor pool area, fully-equipped fitness centre and five restaurants and lounges. Outside of the hotel, guests can explore the area’s beautiful natural beaches, wander down Duqm Corniche, or discover the geological rock gardens. Duqm International Airport is expected to open in 2014.
Prince De Galles, France
The Luxury Collection Hotel will re-open on May 16th after a complete refurbishment.Built during the Art Déco period, the Prince de Galles is centrally located on Avenue George V, steps away from the Champs-Elysées. Designed by internationally acclaimed designer Pierre Yves Rochon, the115 rooms and 44 suiteshave been reimagined as private apartments reminiscent of the Art Deco style from the 1930s featuring exquisite materials and accents such as unique furniture, ebony wood, and marble floors.
Four Points by Sheraton Riyadh Khaldia, Saudi Arabia
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened the first Four Points by Sheraton in Saudi Arabia. The hotel is 20 minutes from Riyadh’s business district and 45 minutes from the King Khalid International Airport. The property features 376 guest rooms including 138 suites, fitted with the brand’s signature Four Comfort Bed and modern bathrooms with a separate walk-in shower. Suites boast a large sitting are and separate kitchenette. The hotel will also feature a fitness centre and spa, both available later this year.
Anantara Hoi An Resort, Vietnam
Anantara’s new Vietnam resort akes advantage of the colonial history of Hoi An, staking claim to a group of French, Dutch, Chinese and Japanese influenced buildings that house the 93 rooms and suites.The hotels features stunning river views and balcony day beds.Each room is two-stories with an upper bedroom and bathroom, leading down to a lower lounge that opens onto a porch. The Oberoi group’s first UAE property, opened in June. Overlooking the Burj Khalifa, each of the 252 rooms and suites have floor to ceiling windows with spectacular views of Dubai’s skyline. Wyndham Hotel Group has announced its entrance into Iraq with its newly-built 71-room Ramada on Sulaymaniyah Salim Street in Kurdistan. Ajman Palace Hotel, UAE
Hospitality Management Holdings (HMH) has opened The Ajman Palace Hotel, opposite the Ruler’s Palace on a private beach. Inspired by traditional Arabian architecture, with Arabesque décor draped in brocade and gold accents, the hotel has 254 rooms, suites, and serviced residences with either sea or city views, and includes a 1200 sq m ballroom, the largest in the northern Emirates, as well as a conference hall, four meeting rooms, and a VIP function area. Ajman Palace is the first major five-star hotel development in Ajman in the last decade.
Ozo Wesley Hong Kong, Hong Kong
ONYX Hospitality Group opens its new OZO hotel brand in Hong Kong. The 346-room Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah has been designed to mirror the classic features of an Arabian palace. The hotel will boast a wealth of superior features and services, including beautifully designed over-sized rooms and suites, a first-class 18-hole championship golf course, a stunning 350-metre private beach, two temperature controlled outdoor pools and one of the Emirate’s largest spas at 1650sqm with 12 bespoke treatment rooms as well as a VIP room.
The Angsana Tengchong Hot Spring Village, China
Banyan Tree has announced its latest property to open in China under its Angsana brand. The Angsana Tengchong Hot Spring Village is the group’s first hot spring retreat in Yunnan, Southwest China and located 30 minutes from Tengchong Airport. The resort features 28 hot spring retreats and nine villas, each with private hot spring tubs, a spacious Angsana Spa and an array of 43 outdoor and indoor hot spring pools. To celebrate, Angsana Tengchong offered opening promotional specials throughout October.
Conrad Dubai, UAE
The 555-room luxury hotel marks the entry of Conrad Hotels & Resorts into the region. Located on Sheikh Zayed Road it is easy to reach Dubai International Financial Centre and Dubai Worl Trade Centre, and is also a convenient ten minutes to the popular downtown area, as well as to Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, two of the city’s biggest tourist highlights. Pentahotel Prague, Czech Republic
The 227-room pentahotel Prague, located close to the historical city centre and just two kilometres from the Old Town, has opened in the capital city of the Czech Republic. Typical of the brand, travellers will gain access to the hotel through its pentalounge, an all day dining venue. The property also features a gym and meeting facilities accommodation up to 200 people. The stylish pentarooms were designed by star architect and interior designer Matteo Thun. The brand is opening further hotels in Belgium, UK and China.
Elaf Bakkah, Saudi Arabia
Elaf Bakkah in Makkah Al Mokarrama, has opened and is only 1,800 metres away from the Holy Mosque Masjid Al Haram. Boasting 810 rooms and 32 suites, guests can also take advantage of the 15 retail outlets that will open at the hotel, in addition to two restaurants offering Arabic and international cuisine. The hotel is equipped with 24 elevators for guests, four entrances and 213 parking slots, in addition to a helipad. Elaf Bakkah Hotel represents a key element of Elaf Group’s strategy to increase its number of hotel rooms to 5,000, in order to accommodate the increasing flow of tourists to Saudi Arabia, the company said.

Luxury hotel management group GHM is welcoming its first guests on the beaches of Tanjung Benoa with the opening of the 261-room The Chedi Sakala. Located on the northern tip of the peninsula, a 30 minute-drive from Kuta, The Chedi Sakala will feature 247 suites and 14 private one- and two-bedroom pool villas, two swimming pools, a wellness spa, health club and lagoon bar. A Kids’ Club will cater to youngsters, leaving parents free to explore Bali’s coastline, water sports and local attractions. The ballroom also allows for corporate events and weddings.

Accor Middle East has opened its latest property in Dubai. Novotel Al Barsha is a four-star property featuring 465 guest rooms. The hotel consists of 376 rooms and 90 suites, five restaurants and bars, and banqueting and meeting facilities. Its spa and fitness facilities include a range of Techno-gym equipment, seven massage rooms, a designated relaxation area, two saunas, two steam baths and an outdoor swimming pool. The Novotel Al Barsha is Accor’s fifth Novotel property in the UAE and the 13th region-wide (three in Saudi Arabia, one in Bahrain and four in Egypt) representing 2,547 rooms.

Ritz-Carlton has opened its first hotel in India. The 227-room hotel is situated in the ehart of downtown Bangalore and designed in the style of the Mughal era. A full range of business facilities will be accessible to guests, including a variety of meeting rooms and a 600 square metre ballroom. In addition, the hotel will include the Ritz-Carlton’s Spa by ESPA which will offer its award-winning treatments. The hotel will also feature seven fine-dining restaurants that willbe run by Michelin starred-chef Anupam Banerjee. In addition, it will also have the city’s highest rooftop bar.
The Ritz-Carlton Aruba
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Group has opened the doors of its sixth luxury resort in the Caribbean.The 320 guestroom-Ritz-Carlton, Aruba is situated along the shores of Palm Beach, giving all guestrooms, including 55 suites, private balcony views of the Caribbean Sea. The oceanfront hotel boasts the largest spa on the island, equipped with 13 treatment rooms spread across 15,000 ft². It has four food and beverage outlets including the lobby Divi Bar & Lounge which will serve up traditional Aruban drinks and snacks to its guests. The resort also has a large ballroom and three meeting rooms.
