A safe haven for children to play and learn, Caboodle Pamper & Play has very specific requirements for its lighting fit-out.

Studio N Lighting was called on to complement the fun, friendly and colourful interior and increase visual interest in the lighting scheme.

Caboodle’s new flagship destination in The Galleria on Al Maryah Island isn't open right now, but once its back in business, parents will find it full of different play zones that encourage children to explore - there is even a hair salon and cafe.

Due to the specialist environment, health and safety was a top priority throughout the design process. While the lighting scheme is playful it also meets the required lux levels (i.e. the amount of illumination) for safe play and activities.

This playfulness is demonstrated through luminaires of different shapes and sizes - a mix of flexible track lights, diffused round lights and slotted linear lights. To complete the space, smaller, linear lighting elements were integrated into shelving and decorative luminaires were used in the cafe area, creating a layer of accent and feature light.

Based in Dubai, Studio N is the boutique sister company to lighting design consultants Nulty and was launched in 2018.

Speaking to CID at the time, the company’s founder Paul Nulty said: “We interpret the client’s brief then offer up the best creative solutions and deliver them quickly and efficiently, making the whole experience as streamlined as possible.

"Studio N takes the concept, sorts out the technical bit then delivers the results. Simple."
