Malek Sukkar balances strategy and vision with operational efficiency and environmental management to direct the activities of averda on local and global levels. He has played a key role in setting the standard for waste management in the numerous markets in which averda operates.

In 1992, Sukkar graduated from Boston University in Massachusetts, USA with a BSc degree in Manufacturing Engineering. He then crossed the Atlantic to the UK to begin an international career with high-tech production machinery manufacturer Complete Process, where he quickly assumed the role of technical director.

In 1993, Sukkar joined averda as vice president of services, overseeing every strategic aspect of the company from HR, IT, procurement, finance and administration to advertising. In 2000, he became CEO of averda Lebanon.

Under his leadership, averda has achieved solid results partnering with local authorities, and winning a number of awards and contracts.

Averda reaches and impacts a wide geography including Lebanon, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco, Iraq Oman, Qatar, and more recently Europe with averda’s acquisition of leading Irish waste management company The City Bin Co.

Sukkar looks forward to using averda’s skill and technology to transform the industry, while educating communities in being more responsible in their actions. He credits averda’s achievements to his hard-working, dedicated teams.
