Alistair Elder has been with G4S since 2006, in roles in India and the MENA region. He was recently appointed as commercial director — UAE in April 2012.
Before joining G4S, Elder served as a British diplomat for 16 years in a diverse range of roles and geographies, the most recent of which was UK/India trade development between 2001 and 2005.
During his short but productive stint in the UAE, Elder has managed to catalyse growth by enhancing the company’s service portfolio through organisational capacity development and pushing for added share across sectors including aviation, retail and FMCG.
In a recent interview with fmME, Elder said the firm is showing a double digit growth this year. “Indeed our expectations are for double digit growth every year in the UAE. It’s one of the world’s top 20 countries for us globally and we operate in 120 countries.
It’s of strategic importance for us — regionally and globally.” He also added that the FM market in the UAE is important for the company’s development as well as the country’s economy. “We have a strong facilities division and our other services complement the FM market’s needs,” he added.
When not at the G4S offices, Elder is an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.
