Dr. Assem Al-Hajj is the founder, academic head and director of studies of the School of the Built Environment at Heriot-Watt University in Dubai.
Dr. Al-Hajj is most proud establishing the first MSc Facilities Management programme in the MENA region and has now introduced PhD studies for the UAE and the region.
An ambassador for the FM profession, his work spans the whole spectrum from teaching, coaching, mentoring and supervising new and experienced FM graduates and postgraduates through to the continuous improvement of industry standards and how FM is integrated into the project life cycle, through input to research, conferences and professional bodies.
He is also a consultant in FM and construction project management, and is an FM industry advisor.
He obtained a PhD in Construction Management and Building Economics from the University of Dundee, UK. He has more than 25 years of international work and academic experience in UK, Africa, MENA and UAE universities.
