Alain El Tawil was born in Beirut, Lebanon, and raised in Dubai. A double major in marketing and advertising from the American University in Dubai, Alain worked for six years in the advertising industry before making a switch to FM and forming his own company.
Grako was one of the first home-grown specialised high-level access cleaning companies in Dubai. Starting with three employees, the company today boasts more than 300 specialised high-access cleaning technicians.
Initially El Tawil’s decision to move away from a lucrative occupation was met with some cynicism, but fueled by a deep passion for the industry he was determined to carve out his own opportunities.
He is now a well-known face in the region’s FM sector, and has taken the initiative on issues facing the high-level access cleaning business by pioneering new practices in the local industry. He has also been the driving force behind introducing environmental programmes at his company. El Tawil’s efforts culminated in Grako achieving the status of a carbon neutral company, the first high-level access cleaning firm in the region to do so.
