This year has been an eventful one for Premier Inn’s regional managing director Darroch Crawford, who moved to Dubai in 2006 to spearhead the growth of UK-based Whitbread’s budget brand in the Middle East.
The budget hotel operator now has four properties operating in the Middle East including the Premier Inn Abu Dhabi Capital Centre, which launched this year.
Crawford has also overseen the signing of two new Middle East hotels in the past 12 months — Premier Inn Doha Education City and Premier Inn Abu Dhabi International Airport, which is due to open by September 2013.
With 41 years’ of hotel industry experience, including six years in the Middle East, British-born Crawford joined Whitbread, the United Kingdom’s largest hospitality company and owner of Premier Inn in the year 2000. Early hospitality industry achievements include becoming UK operator Thistle Hotels’ youngest general manager at the tender age of 24.
