DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island was one of the first properties in the UAE to receive Bureau Veritas’ Safety Certificate in recognition of its hygiene practices. Couple this with Hilton’s global CleanStay campaign and the hospitality group has put itself in a good position to welcome back tentative guests. The resort’s cluster GM, Nader Halim, discusses how the pandemic has changed operations.

Tell us how operations at the hotel have changed over the past few months?
Over the past few months, the hospitality industry has evolved to address travellers’ changing expectations. At DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island, we have enhanced cleanliness protocols and all our team members have undergone additional training.

The lobby, reception, public areas, rooms, restaurants, beach and pools as well as recreational and kid’s facilities are all cleaned, disinfected and sanitised several times a day. In addition, we have implemented contactless menus and payment, limited capacity at dining and leisure facilities, as well as spacing of sunbeds on the beach.

How important was it for the property to receive the Stay Safe Certificate?
We are delighted to have received the Stay Safe certificate. Being certified by Bureau Veritas with the Stay Safe Certificate reaffirms that we deliver an industry-defining standard of cleanliness and disinfection, and provides guests with assurance and peace of mind when staying at our property.

Hilton is launching its own hygiene initiative. When will it be implemented at your property and what does it entail?
Hilton CleanStay is Hilton’s new industry-defining standard of cleanliness and disinfection – we are currently in the process of rolling this out at the property. Our elevated processes and Team Member training have been developed with RB, maker of Lysol and Dettol, to help DoubleTree by Hilton Marjan Island Resort & Spa guests enjoy an even cleaner and safer stay from check in to check out.

Hilton CleanStay builds upon the already high standards of housekeeping and hygiene at Hilton properties worldwide and a focus on cleanliness is visible to guests throughout their entire stay experience – guest rooms, restaurants, fitness rooms and other public spaces.

How will you ensure that safety standards are met?
We continuously train our team members on new cleanliness procedures. We are grateful to have such a wonderful team who have worked hard to ensure all measures are safety and cleanliness measures are implemented.

What are you doing to draw guests back to the property and create confidence in your offering?
The safety and comfort of our guests is a top priority, and as we welcome guests back to our resort we are complying with government guidelines, we have been certified by Bureau Veritas, and we are rolling out Hilton CleanStay. We look forward to continuing to create the unforgettable experiences guests have come to expect from DoubleTree by Hilton Marjan Island Resort & Spa.
