Launching in January 2014, Cielo is a two-floor Spanish-themed tapas bar and sky-lounge at the Dubai Creek Yacht Club overlooking the Creek featuring authentic food, Bodega-style restaurant, a roof terrace, live music and sports.
Modeled on the traditional rustic Bodega style venues of Madrid and Barcelona, Cielo tapas bar and restaurant on the first floor will feature favourite Spanish dishes, ideal for sharing, with a wide selection of wines, sangrias and cocktails. The head chef comes from the celebrated Chiringuito Juan y Andrea in Formentera, Ibiza.
Whissle co-founder Markus Thesleff, who is behind the brand, said: "I have always been inspired and excited about the variety of cuisines and experiences which can be found across Spain and we have developed Cielo Tapas Bar and Sky Lounge to celebrate this – from rural to urban, mainland to coastal.
"From the menu, through to music, décor and beverages, we are working with a highly experienced team directly from Spain – to create a concept which is unique and exciting for the residents and visitors of Dubai alike."
To celebrate the fresh flavours of Spain, a selection of paellas is on offer including the traditional ‘Paella Marisco’ Seafood Paella and the ‘Paella de Fideua’ which is a special form of Paella made with angel hair pasta instead of rice.
Main courses include a range of meat, seafood, broths and canelones such as the ‘Bacalao A La Vizcaina Vizcaina style Cod and the most traditional ‘Lubina a la Sal’ Whole baked salt encrusted seabass.
In addition to dining the tapas bar will feature a DJ playing Latin music from funky salsa to soulful samba, live sports, including all La Liga games, as well as live performances from Flamenco dancers.
The Cielo Sky Lounge & Terrace – accessible via a VIP elevator - has spectacular views over the Dubai Creek and Burj Khalifa.
The Sky Lounge will also serve a selection of tapas with highlights including: ‘Ceviche de Kingfish a Nuestra Manera’ Cielo-style ceviche with citrus dressing and seaweed, ‘Pulpo e Feria’ Mediterranean octopus, ‘Gambas a la Sal’ sizzling prawns served on a hotplate, and ‘Tostada de Sobrassada de Mallorca’ toasted rustic bread served with Sobrassada, honey and melted cheese.
After sunset, it will transform into a late-lounge destination with music and performances from international big name celebrity DJs.
