Expo 2020 Dubai has named PepsiCo as the official beverage and snack partner for the upcoming six-month event. The partnership was inked at a signing ceremony at the Expo site with PepsiCo’s chairman and CEO Indira K Nooyi in attendance.
The beverage company’s vision, ‘Performance with Purpose 2025 Agenda’ with focus on products, planet and people closely aligns with the Expo’s core theme: 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future' and sub-themes of Opportunity, Sustainability and Mobility’, a statement said. The two organisations revealed that they will work together to educate millions on areas of critical importance such as water stewardship, sustainable packaging, agriculture and nutrition.
Commenting on the partnership, Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee chairman His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: "The increasing world population is straining the planet’s resources, generating an urgent need for more intelligent sources of nutrition, and packaging for snacks and beverages among other solutions. Expo 2020 Dubai is committed to showcasing products and innovations that will help address this global challenge, allowing people to live healthier, more prosperous and sustainable lives."
At the Expo 2020, which will be the first World Expo to be held in its 167-year history in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, PepsiCo plans to feature innovative, unique products at the Expo and will use the platform to showcase its latest nutrition-driven initiatives, expanding on programmes like 'helloGoodness', which shows how convenience, affordability and nutrition will come together in a new way in the future, the statement added.
Some 25 million visitors are expected to attend the event, including 70% from outside the UAE.
